Facts checked on
Filing yourself, a Georgia LLC costs between 230 and 290 dollars in state fees over its first three years: the formation fee and two or three annual registrations.
The state fees
- Formation: the articles of organization cost 100 dollars plus 10 dollars, 110 dollars in all, on the Secretary of State’s fee list [32].
- Every year: the annual registration costs 50 dollars plus 10 dollars, 60 dollars in all [32]. It is due between January 1 and April 1; the first is due in the year after the calendar year in which the LLC was formed [34].
- Optional fees: a 30-day name reservation costs 35 dollars, and expedited service in two business days 120 dollars [32].
- Dissolution: the certificate of termination has no fee [32].
- An LLC formed in another state pays 235 dollars for a certificate of authority to transact business in Georgia [32].
Over three years
The first registration falls between January 1 and April 1 of the year after formation, then every year. In 36 months that is two or three registrations, depending on the month of formation and on the day each is filed: 110 + 120 = 230 dollars, or 110 + 180 = 290 dollars.
The calculator for Georgia adds the prices of the formation services we could read. Due dates of the other states are in LLC deadlines by state.
