Registered agent prices: what formation services charge a year

States set their own registered agent rules: Texas, for example, requires an LLC to keep a registered agent and a registered office address in Texas [107], and Florida requires each LLC, and each foreign LLC authorized to do business there, to keep one in Florida [31]. Formation services sell this as a yearly subscription, often with a different price in the first year. The table gives the prices each service publishes.
What each service publishes
- ZenBusiness: its pricing page says the registered agent is not included in any package and costs 199 dollars a year [124]. Its registered agent page says 99 dollars for the first year, renewing at 199 dollars a year [125]. We show both first-year prices.
- Bizee: one year of registered agent service is free with any of its formation packages [126]. The standalone service costs 149 dollars a year [127]. The pages we read do not say what the included year renews at, so the calculator counts no renewal and shows a minimum.
- LegalZoom: 249 dollars a year, a price for first-time registered agent customers [129]. The service auto-renews at the purchase rate, and the renewal rate is subject to change [129].
- Inc Authority: the first year is included with the formation [130]. The renewal price is not on the page we read.
- Harbor Compliance: 99 dollars for the first year for new customers, renewing at 159 dollars a year; or 297 dollars for three years paid in advance [133].
- MyCompanyWorks: starting at 119 dollars a year [135].
- CorpNet: 149 dollars a year [137]. The Basic package includes 60 days of registered agent service; the Deluxe and Complete packages include one year [136].
- Tailor Brands: the pricing page we read gives no registered agent price [131].
- Northwest Registered Agent: forming an LLC costs 39 dollars plus state fees, and includes a year of registered agent service [156] [157]. After that the service costs 125 dollars a year, or 100 dollars a year per state from five states [158].
- Registered Agents Inc.: forming an LLC costs 100 dollars plus state fees, with one free year of registered agent service [159]. After that the service costs 200 dollars a year [160], which includes filing the state compliance report; the state fee is extra [161].

Over three years
With the prices above, three years of registered agent service cost 250 dollars at Northwest, after the year included with the formation; 400 dollars at Registered Agents Inc., which includes filing the state report; 298 dollars at Bizee if the renewals cost the standalone price; 417 dollars at Harbor Compliance, or 297 dollars paid in advance; 497 or 597 dollars at ZenBusiness, depending on which of its two first-year prices applies; and 747 dollars at LegalZoom. For MyCompanyWorks the price is a “starting at” price, and for Bizee, Inc Authority, CorpNet and Tailor Brands a price is missing.
The calculator adds these prices to the state fees of the state you choose; for ZenBusiness, whose two pages disagree, it counts neither first-year price and shows a minimum. It lists the services by cost only.
